This colorful mural has been done by a talented Spanish artist, Debens. This geometric-abstract mural, which measures 40m x 8m, won 2012 national and international project Espai Jove facade Boca Nord – Public Art and artistic interventions in public space Barrio El Carmelo (Barcelona).
The mural features visual language dominated by the square and rectangle shapes with fun, vibrant colors. Debens describes:
“Building Hope” is a geometric-abstract mural depicting building in the future, linking shapes, colors and adding perspectives. The composition is ordered from left to right, looking forward to the future. It was adapted to the geometry of the front of the building, highlighting each of its parts with shape or color. Some forms are based on those used by the Inca civilization to bind the stone blocks and so build walls. In turn, to these pure forms shadows or perspectives are added, referring to three-dimensional graffiti.
